Maria Ruiz (Maria Queiroga), born in 1987 in Recife, is a visual artist whose work explores the intricate layers of identity, memory, and heritage. Moving across painting, sculpture, photography, installation, and video art, she creates sensitive narratives that evoke deep cultural roots.

Primarily inspired by the symbolic universe of Northeastern Brazil and the aesthetic principles of the Movimento Armorial, Maria weaves together tradition and contemporaneity. Her artistic gestures engage with folk imagery, ancestral knowledge, and the tensions of collective memory, opening space for intimate and political experiences of belonging.

Through a unique visual language, Maria Ruiz revisits the past as a form of resistance and reinvention, making art a territory of listening, reverence, and transformation.
